THE ABERDARE

A thought for our English friends ! We are visiting this place next weekend :
The Aberdare National park is a highland forest park located in the Rift Valley Province, at the North West of Nairobi. It is known for its torrential waterfalls plunging from cloud shrouded heights to spray filled ravines. The Aberdare has over 2000 elephants that roam the clouded hills and misty glades, the elusive rare Bongo, black rhino, Cape buffalo plus various other animals. There are over 290 bird species recorded in the Aberdare. Its climate is cool and misty with year round rains. The altitude ranges from 1 829m to 4 000m.
The Treetops hotel is a world-renowned rustic treehouse originally built in 1932. Trees grow right through the building. It is famous as the place where the then-Princess Elisabeth learned of her father’s death and ascended to the British Throne in 1952.
Treetops lies in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare mountains and Mount Kenya national park and is strategically located in front of a watering hole.
Die-hard animal lovers needn’t worry about missed sightings, even into the early hours of the morning. An optional buzzer in the rooms alerts the guest when a spectacle is unfolding at the waterhole.
